Easter Sunday Reflections – Jesus Paid It All, He Lives, and a Little Talk with Jesus

It’s Easter Sunday, y’all. One of those mornings that just feels sacred—even with the rain tapping on the windshield as we made our way to church. There’s a peace in the air on days like today. A stillness that reminds you: this is holy ground. Today, we celebrate a risen Savior. We celebrate hope.
On the way to church, my husband and I sang together in the car. Now, singing isn’t exactly his favorite thing (and he’s the first to admit he’s a little off-key), but he’ll sing with me—and that means more than I can say. We sang “Have a Little Talk with Jesus” and “Amazing Grace.” There was no music playing, just our voices and a quiet rain—and a whole lot of love and gratitude in that little space.
Have a Little Talk with Jesus
That song always grounds me. It’s not fancy. It’s not complicated. It’s just truth. When things feel heavy, or uncertain, or just plain out of my control, I can have a little talk with Jesus and know He hears me. I don’t have to figure it all out—I just have to bring it to Him.
Amazing Grace
Then we sang “Amazing Grace.” I’ve heard it and sung it a thousand times, but that line—“I once was lost, but now I’m found”—still gets me. It’s my story. His grace didn’t just save me once, it keeps holding me every single day.
A Little Rain and a Big Answer
Now let me tell you about the moment we got to church. My sweet husband pulled up to the front to drop me off so I wouldn’t get wet, but as soon as I opened the car door—y’all—it poured. I mean, like someone turned the faucet on full blast. I dashed for the door and got completely soaked. Meanwhile, he went to park the car, and I kid you not—the rain stopped just long enough for him to walk in bone dry. He told me later, “I prayed it would stop because I knew if I walked in when it was still pouring, it was gonna look like I was entering a wet T-shirt contest.”
Y’all—I laughed so hard. But what struck me most? God even answers those kinds of prayers. The little ones. The funny ones. The “I’m just trying not to be drenched at church” kind of prayers. That’s how close our Savior is.
Jesus Paid It All & He Lives
Inside the church, the service began with “Jesus Paid It All” and “He Lives.” Two songs that hit my heart every time.
“Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
That line always brings tears to my eyes. His grace didn’t just patch things up—it made us clean. Free. Redeemed.
And *“He Lives”—*oh, that song just lifts your spirit. “He walks with me and talks with me…” He’s alive. He’s here. And because He lives, I can face anything.
Let the Songs (and Stories) Speak
So today, I’m letting those songs and little moments soak in. No coffee for me—just a quiet heart and plans to head to lunch at my in-laws’ house. Easter doesn’t have to be big or fancy. It just needs Jesus. And He’s already here.
Jesus paid it all.
He lives.
We can talk to Him anytime.
And His grace? Still amazing.
Even in the rain. Even when the singing’s off-key. Even when you’re soaked and your husband walks in dry as a bone—especially then.
