Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Waiting isn’t easy. I’ll be the first to admit that patience is not one of my strong suits. When life feels heavy, when bills stack up, when dreams seem so far away, the idea of waiting feels like torture. I want answers now. I want to change now. Maybe you do too.

But here’s the truth: the Bible tells us that good things do come to those who wait. And not just good things—God’s best things.

God Strengthens Us in the Waiting

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

— Isaiah 40:31

Waiting is not wasted time. It’s a season where God is strengthening us, shaping us, and preparing us for what’s next. Think about David—he was anointed king as a teenager but didn’t sit on the throne until years later. In the meantime, he learned courage, trust, and humility while tending sheep and dodging spears.

Your waiting season is building something in you that rushing could never accomplish.

When We Rush Ahead

Abraham and Sarah got tired of waiting for God’s promise of a child, so they took matters into their own hands. The result wasn’t peace—it was conflict. I know I’ve done the same thing in my life. I get tired of waiting, I try to fix it myself, and I end up making the hole I’m in even deeper.

But God’s timing is not late. It’s perfect.

God’s Timing Is Always Best

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

— Lamentations 3:25-26

A seed doesn’t sprout the day you plant it. It needs time, water, and light. Just because you don’t see movement yet doesn’t mean God isn’t working. Delays aren’t denials—they’re often protection or preparation.

How to Wait Well

If you’re like me and struggle with impatience, here are some practical steps you can take:

Pray daily – Give God your impatience. Tell Him honestly how you feel.

Shift perspective – Instead of asking, “Why isn’t it happening yet?” ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me in this season?”

Take small steps – Do the little things you can do each day—read your Bible, make wise choices, practice gratitude—while leaving the big results to God.

A Question for You

What’s the hardest thing for you to wait on right now? And what would it look like if you trusted God with it instead of trying to control it yourself?

Prayer

“Lord, I confess that I am impatient. I feel stuck, and I want to change so badly. But I know Your timing is best. Help me trust You in this waiting season. Renew my strength, grow my faith, and remind me that You are working for my good—even when I can’t see it. Amen.”

Waiting is not punishment. It’s preparation. You may feel like you’re in a hole, but God is building a ladder. One day, in His perfect timing, you’ll look back and see that this waiting season was the very thing that carried you to the blessing.
